When I was looking around my mother said to me "I thought you liked the newer mustangs." To which I replied "No, it's always been the older ones!" So from there she narrowed my search down and took me to look at the car. It was in Katy, Texas; in a storge garage. The man who sold it to us I doubt knew little about cars. When we asked why he was selling it he responded "I have too many cars, and this is the one that I want to sell as my newer cars are all brand new" - I doubt it as he was driving a 95 honda! He also had his underpants sticking up over his jeans and Tshirt - but hey the man knew what new cars were! LOL (being sarcastic!) We test drove it and realised it would definately need breaks before I drove it home, and after checking under the hood I discovered it would also need new belts. So we paid for the little mustang red Ford Mustang with a black leather pony interior (V8 289) and brought it to a shop in Spring, TX for service. After a day we got it back and up to Minnesota I drove it - yes drove it! (The Oklahoma Indian Turnpike needs to be more labeled before getting on - and on a V8 with a 12-14 gallon tank isn't the smartest thing I've ever done but we sorta made it!). I broke down in McCalaster, OK to no fault running out of gas, nope - my starter switch had fried out. Thankfully there was a Ford dealership in town and the great thing about the south is they usually drive these kind of cars all year round so parts don't have to be ordered in! YAY! So I stayed at this great hotel and enjoyed a nice swim and massage. The next day I was on the road again - destination Minnesota. I made it, I pulled in my driveway the next morning at 3am.
Although the car appears to have been in a head on once as paint in the door frame is different color red, and the carborated once dented the hood, minor rust around the door frames and my door handles are in black electrical tape the car was appraised at 12,000. Not bad when I paid less then half of that! But they said if I restore it and keep all the original parts (which are all still there and the title only has 33,xxx original miles) it'll be worth a lot more! Thank god for the little old texas widdow who wouldn't sell her late husbands car for 20+ years I have low original miles!
